NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)

There's no better, safer place to have a baby

Having a child is usually a joyful event. But if your baby is premature and struggling for life, Dr. Chua could be your guardian angel. As medical director of the Home Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), she and her team give babies with the greatest needs a chance to grow and live normal, healthy lives. Her passion is contagious, giving parents hope while helping newborns at risk overcome the odds. It’s no surprise she’s one of the most hugged doctors in our hospitals.

We are a regional referral center for high risk pregnancies and provide state-of-the-art care for premature and ill infants in our Level III NICU. Being a Level III NICU, means that we have state-of-the-art technology and trained specialists to care for the most seriously ill infants.

What is a Level III NICU?

Levels of care are designated based on capabilities.

  • Level I NICU provides basic neonatal care; it is the minimum required for any facility that provides maternity care.
  • Level II NICUs are special care nurseries that offer basic care and are also equipped to treat infants who are moderately ill with problems that are expected to resolve quickly.
  • Level III NICUs have specially trained personnel and equipment. They can provide continuous life support and comprehensive care for extremely high-risk newborn infants including preemies and those with complex and critical illness.
