Perinatal Loss

Our Perinatal Loss Bereavement Program assists families who have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or newborn death. The program provides health care professionals and counselors to meet the needs of bereaved parents and families during the initial crisis of the loss of their baby as well as continued counseling and support as families continue to cope with their grief.

Some of the supports we offer are:

  • Follow-up with a bereavement counselor, who will keep in contact with you after you leave the hospital as a source of support and help in coping with your grief.
  • Share Support Group who meet monthly to provide group support and comfort for families who are grieving the loss of a baby.
  • Memorial Service at St. Boniface Cemetery three times a year when staff from St. Elizabeth Regional Health, parents and friends remember and love the babies who have died before they were 20 weeks gestation.
  • A Candlelight Memorial Service held for families and friends of those who have lost a baby due to miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, still birth or newborn death. This service allows us to come together as a community, grieve and comfort one another and remember the babies who were loved and are missed.

Grief is a personal journey but we are here for you if you need additional help and support. For more information about the programs we offer or to speak with a counselor please call the Kathryn Weil Center for Education at 765-449-5133. Leave your name and number and the best time for the counselor to return your call.
