BASIC TB Course

This course identifies populations to be tested and how to administer, read and record the Mantoux Skin Test. This program is co-sponsored by the Kathryn Weil Center for Education and the American Lung Association. At the completion of this program the participant will be able to:

Identify components of TB case management, current rates and risk factors.
Explain the transmission, pathogenesis and classification system of TB.
Define the differences between TB infection and TB disease and the impact of high risk populations.
Identify common diagnostic procedures and treatment regimes.
Demonstrate correct technique for administering, reading, recording and interpreting results of the Mantoux Skin Test.

TB Renewal Course

Guidelines from the American Lung Association require TB Basic cards to be renewed every three years. The TB Renewal Course includes presentation of basic and new TB information, a Centers for Disease Control video and return demonstration of skills for reading and administering the Mantoux test. Your new course card will indicate course completion and expiration date. Participants taking the TB Renewal Course, must enclose a copy of their prior Basic TB Course card with registration form.
